Junior Assistant in TNPSC Group 4

Junior Assistant is one of the recurring clerical posts under TNPSC Group 4, alongside VAO, Bill Collector, Typist and Steno-Typist.

What a Junior Assistant does

Junior Assistants handle office and clerical work across Tamil Nadu government departments — file work, correspondence, record-keeping and general administrative support. It is an indoor, office-based post, unlike the field-based VAO role.

How it is filled

Junior Assistant posts are filled through the same CCSE-IV written exam. There is no interview; selection is on written-exam merit. Typing ability is not required for the general Junior Assistant post, though typing and shorthand posts under Group 4 do need the relevant technical certificate.

Eligibility

The standard Group 4 eligibility applies: an SSLC pass, the 18–32 age limit with category relaxations, and mandatory knowledge of Tamil.

Vacancies vary by cycle. Check the latest notification for the number of Junior Assistant posts and any post-specific conditions.
